A facelift, rhytidoplasty, or surgical facial rejuvenation is a procedure that repositions facial tissues to restore a youthful appearance. Through camouflaged incisions, facial tissues are addressed in different planes, repositioned, excess tissue is removed, and controlled tension is created on the facial contour. A neck lift is typically performed during the same procedure, creating a harmonious facial contour and neck contour.
There are different techniques for this procedure. The ideal technique not only tightens the skin, as it normally sags again over time. Therefore, we perform modifications in deeper planes, especially in the superficial musculoaponeurotic system (SMAS), creating traction, resecting excess tissue, and repositioning tissue, achieving longer-lasting results.
This type of procedure is commonly accompanied by other surgeries to create a harmonious result, such as blepharoplasty, lip lift, fat revolumization, rhinoplasty, and forehead lift, in order to achieve a more youthful and slender face.
The goal of this procedure is to achieve a patient’s similar appearance, but in improved condition, based on their anatomy and the image of how they looked 10-15 years before the procedure.
At Majestic Plastic Surgery, we believe that the final result is determined by the surgeon’s concept of beauty. At Majestic, the blending of two concepts—feminine and masculine—and the presence of two surgeons in the same procedure guarantees a much greater sense of body harmony, with shorter surgical time and unparalleled support, thus achieving unparalleled results.
When is it indicated?
This procedure is indicated for patients:
Who wish to improve the aesthetic appearance of their face.
Who wish to improve the aesthetic appearance of their neck.
Those with severe tissue laxity in the face and neck.
Who wish to look 10-15 years younger.
Who wish to enhance their facial contours by combining different surgeries (blepharoplasty, lip lift, rhinoplasty, mentoplasty, etc.).
How is it performed?
It is important to always conduct a preoperative consultation to determine the patient’s requirements, expectations, and condition before the procedure. Subsequently, always in a completely aseptic and antiseptic operating room, we perform the surgical procedure. An incision is made in front of and behind the ear, which may or may not extend to the scalp. The planes are dissected until the SMAS is reached, it is lifted to a certain position, traction is created, excess tissue is resected, it is repositioned according to specific vectors, anchored in its new position, and excess skin is resected. In the neck, the platysma muscle is corrected and the mandibular contour is recreated. Other anatomical structures are checked, the procedure is closed in layers, and a special drainage system is left in place. A bandage is placed to hold the tissue in place, which is replaced by the surgeons two days later for a special chin strap.
